The aim of the game
The object of the game is to bring your own checkers into your home board and then carry them off from there.
Here, the direction of movement indicated in the figure must be observed (never pull in the opposite direction). The player who gets their pieces off the board the fastest wins.
The starting position:
There are different types of backgammon, here we explain the most common version,
as played in all international tournaments. The starting position of each game is shown below.
In this case, White plays from the top right to the bottom left (in his home board),
Black from bottom right to top left (also in his home board).
Home (black): Black's home square
Home (white): White's home square
Arrows white: white moves in this direction
Black arrows: Black moves in this direction
